A Sky Full of Stars

- by Surabhi

I once went on a school-sponsored camping trip. All my friends were there, too. After a long day of outdoor activities, everyone went back to their cabins and fell asleep. I tried to fall asleep, but I was too excited. Finally, I fell into an uneasy sleep. I dreamed that I was standing somewhere I didn’t know. Suddenly, a light breeze picked me up and flew me around. I didn’t know what was happening. Finally, the wind lowered me and I thought it was putting me down. As soon as my foot reached for the ground, my body rocketed skywards. I screamed on the top of my lungs, but I don’t think anyone heard me. I finally opened my eyes and looked around. I could see thousands of stars around me. I looked around for about five minutes and then the wind started blowing me around again. I started heading toward what appeared to be a really small star. I braced myself because if I had learned anything in science class, it was that stars were supposed to be really hot. As I got closer, I realized it wasn’t as hot as I thought it would be. It was a little warm but not burning hot. The wind let me get off and I heard the sound of it speeding away. I carefully took a few steps forward. I walked for about two minutes when I came across a wall of fog. I put my hand up to it and it disappeared. I walked through it wondering what was on the other side. As soon as I reached the end, my foot went over the edge and I started falling. I immediately woke up and I realized that it was time for breakfast. “ Huh, that was weird,” I thought as I pulled on my sweater.
